Michel Trivedi, MHA

Michele Trivedi graduated from the Xavier University’s Masters Program in Health Services Administration (Cincinnati, OH) and was the Senior Director of Quality, Education and Managed Care for a 200+-physician primary care group in Cincinnati, Ohio. Michele’s health administration work included managed care contracting and negotiations, benefit design for a self funded HMO product, statistical process control and continuous quality improvement in clinical practice and administrative systems.

Michele “retired” to care for her young daughter, who was diagnosed with autism at age three, and in 2000, Michele worked with the parent-led coalition of autism advocates, The Arc of Indiana, ASI and IRCA to achieve the nation’s first comprehensive private health insurance coverage law for autism. Her child was the first in the nation to gain autism treatment coverage under autism health insurance reform. Michele spent 3 years establishing the enforcement parameters of the Indiana Autism Mandate by fighting her daughter’s “test cases” for the enforcement of the mandate’s provisions. She was subsequently appointed by the Commissioner for the Indiana Department of Insurance (IDOI) to represent consumers on the IDOI committee to establish Bulletin 136, which outlines enforcement parameters. For over 18 years, Michele has volunteered on behalf of the Indiana autism community in many capacities. She has been the Legislative Liaison for the Autism Society of Indiana, a Member of the Autism Society of America’s Government Relations Committee, and a Board Member of the Autism Society of Indiana (ASI). Michele is an Executive Board Member of LittleStar ABA Therapy, Indiana’s first ABA therapy center, which is 100% non-profit and is nationally recognized for its leadership in quality, and has been Autism Speaks’ State Policy Chairperson for Indiana and a member of Autism Speaks’ “Autism Congress.”
